Biography
Dr. Malghan is primarily recognised for his contributions to reformulating ecological economics from a scale perspective. Malghan’s research is highly interdisciplinary and routinely uses tools from economics, chemical engineering, ecology, normative reasoning, and historical analysis. Malghan is currently working on a multi-year book project (provisionally titled Citius, Altius, Fortius: A History of How the World Became Efficient) that develops the global history of the modern idea of efficiency. The book project spans several historiographical traditions including intellectual history, history of science, history of political economy, and environmental history. Malghan also pursues empirical interests under the broad rubric of ecological political economy. Major projects include social metabolism (www.urbanmetabolism.asia) and new approaches to measurement of inequality.
